FAQs
|
1. What vehicles is the Dropracks best suited for?
Dropracks is ideally designed for taller vehicles including trucks, full size SUVs, vans and truck bed tops that require a wider roof rack. For smaller cars, European SUVs and Subarus, the Dropracks Regular is a better fit.
2. What roof types are compatible with Dropracks ?
It is compatible with vehicles having raised roof rails, flush roof rails or fixed roof points. It is not compatible with vehicles using clamp-style attachments that grip under the doors, nor with bare/naked roofs without reinforcement.
3. What is the load capacity of the Dropracks ?
Dropracks has a lifting capacity of 80kg (176lbs), a dynamic (on-road) capacity of 100kg (220lbs) and a static (stationary) capacity of 300kg (650lbs).
4. Can Dropracks be used with existing Thule/Yakima/Rhino fittings?
Yes, it is compatible with vertical attachment fittings from Thule, Yakima and Rhino (their connections fit the Dropracks' bottom C-Channel). Horizontal attachments (e.g., Thule Wingbar Edge) are not compatible. Thule Evo Raised Rail/Flush Rail are the recommended fittings for corresponding roof rails.
5. How does the adjustable crank handle work for lifting and lowering?
The integrated cranking handle has an extendable design with a built-in clutch system. Use the shorter length for light loads and the extended longer length for heavy loads; the clutch lets you stop the rack at any position while keeping the load stable.
6. What special features does the Dropracks bar have for load security and protection?
Each bar is fitted with a grippy rubber strip on top to increase friction for load stability and protect your gear from scratches. It also has a built-in T-Track rail for easy installation of specialized carriers for bikes, kayaks, roof boxes, tents and more.
7. What adjustments are needed for vehicles with fixed roof points?
Vehicles with fixed points require adapting the length of the four aluminum connecting bars between the front and rear Dropracks. An 850mm span is included in the box, and a 1445mm long kit is available (can be cut to custom lengths) for different fixed point spacings.
8. What is the solution for installing Dropracks on a naked/bare car roof (usually trucks)?
Naked/bare roofs need to be reinforced first, with recommended options including installing a Rhino Backbone or Yakima RuggedLine, fitting longitudinal T-Tracks from Yakima/Rhino, or other similar rail reinforcement systems, then bolting Dropracks directly onto the reinforced structure.
